Location:

In the Khan Khentii Special Protected Area, north-east of Ulaanbaatar. Nearest airport is Ulaanbaatar. The ride takes place in the same area as the Mongol Horse Trail but on this ride accommodation is in made up beds in gers rather than the more basic two man tents of the Mongol Horse Trail.

Weather:

Clear, bright days in the summer. Late June, July and August can see short but heavy rain showers. The weather is variable with hot days and nights that can be very cold.

The Riding

You should be a fit and competent rider capable of riding spirited, forward going horses over varying terrain for up to seven hours a day. The riding includes long trots and canters. There is a rider weight limit of 90kg.... more »

My top tip: Be prepared to 'go with the flow'. Your hosts and guides are delightful, but can be shy so you may have to be the one asking all the questions.
