With Mount Kilimanjaro as the back drop, these horse safaris traverse a variety
of quintessential and game rich East African landscapes from the majestic Chyulu Hills to the plains of Amboseli.
With access to over 1.4 million acres, including two national parks, the horse safaris from Ol Donyo Wuas operate in one of the largest wilderness concessions in Africa today.
Enjoy riding through a great variety of truly wild, unfenced ecosystems; from the vast savannah plains of the lowlands, through thick acacia forests, to the famous Chyulu Hills. The Chyulu Hills are the youngest
range of volcanic hills in Africa, the last volcanic activity having happened only
about 600 years ago. Within this area
reside some of Africa's most magnificent creatures including elephant, rhino, lion, leopard and buffalo not to mention
hundreds of species of birds and a huge variety of plant life.
Ol Donyo Wuas Lodge re-opened in July 2008 after a complete re-design and is looking fabulous. This is a great option for those who wish to enjoy a riding safari and the comfort of a luxurious lodge, with swimming pools, massages and unbeatable views. You can ride from the lodge either early in the morning or at sunset and also enjoy game drives, bush walks and the many other activities that the lodge has to offer. You may also choose to spend a night or two at the lodge before or after your mobile safari.
The horse safaris are managed and guided by Patrick Stanton and Nicola Young, an enthusiastic and experienced couple who
will look after your every need. They have
a selection of very well-schooled horses which are used to the wildlife and terrain.
