Canter along deserted ocean beaches, ride the bluffs while the Pacific crashes against rocks far below and meander on mossy trails through magnificent Redwood forests.

Owner and manager Lari Shea has been a riding instructor for 25 years. She has competed extensively in both dressage and endurance and her staff also includes many accomplished horsepeople who are good at sharing their knowledge.

There are some terrific horses which are both fit and sensible. Some are suitable for intermediate riders; others are for advanced riders. Many of the horses have won high placings at numerous endurance races, dressage and horse shows.
They include breeds such as Akhal-Teke, Russian Orlov crosses, Arabians, Appaloosa, Thoroughbred and Quarter Horses.

Instruction in horsemanship, riding techniques and equine sports conditioning methods is provided on each trek. You learn to measure your horse’s heart rate with a stethoscope and test your mount for signs of metabolic function.

There are an average of twelve riders on a Redwood Coast Riding Vacation week. On most days the group is split according to experience level. Riders head out on shorter and longer versions of the same ride meeting up with the others at prearranged spots a few miles down the trail.

The routes are designed to give you great riding whether on the beach, or on the coastal grassy headlands with the waves way in the distance, or twisting and turning through the Redwood forests. This ride offers really great riding and the experienced guides ensure that everyone in the group, whatever their experience, has a safe and exciting ride.

During the week you stay at the Hill House Inn in Mendocino and excellent evening meals and evening entertainment arranged. A car is required for driving between the accommodation and the stables - if you are not happy hiring and driving a car then we can arrange for you to car share with other riders.
