On certain dates throughout the year the Bellstone trail ride sets off from Estancia Los Potreros to further explore the surrounding area. Riding through this remote landscape you stay at a variety of locations from cattle estancias to very simple dwellings and experience the life of the local people. This expedition is rich in local history and offers some great riding.
Day 1: Transfer from Cordoba airport to Estancia Los Potreros. If time permits, meet the horses and have a short ride. Overnight Estancia Los Potreros for two nights.
Day 2: Ride to some of the highest points on the estancia to get your bearings. Lunch is a traditional asado (barbecue) by the pool. Afternoon swimming, walking or relaxing.
Day 3: You set off on the trail and ride past the Canyon of the Condors. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the local school and visit the Dominican church. Overnight camp.
Day 4: Ride north along the top of the Sierras Chicas towards Menta's farm. Menta is a wonderful host and good cook and lives here with her brother. Experiencing their simple, rural existence is a highlight of the trip for many. Stay in Menta's cabin or camp out.
Day 5: A long ride today as you climb above La Cumbre to the Loma Grande. Dinner and overnight at a secluded stone lodge which can only be reached by foot or horseback.
Day 6: Ride to the town of La Cumbre with an opportunity for some shopping and later wind your way down towards La Falda. Overnight at a local inn or estancia.
Day 7: La Falda is a town of German origin and the site of the famous Eden Hotel, funded by Hitler during the war and now a museum. From the town you climb a ridge and ride along the top with spectacular views towards the estancia. Overnight Estancia Los Potreros.
Day 8: A farewell ride, if time, before returning to the airport.
