Mount Juliet is set in 1,500 acres of lush, mature green parkland. One of Europe's finest sporting estates, Mount Juliet is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
Within the estate, Mount Juliet's Equestrian Centre has a range of well schooled Irish bred horses and ponies suitable for novice to experienced riders. With two arenas, an American style barn, a cross-country course and 16 miles of bridleways, this is one of the most impressive equestrian centres in Ireland and offers riders the best possible experience in all types of riding. After an initial assessment, to ensure you are matched to the appropriate horse, you may choose between flatwork or show jumping lessons in the arena, the excitement of cross-country jumping, hacking through the beautiful estate grounds or a combination of all. In season, experienced riders may go hunting with the Kilkenny Hounds.
Also within the boundaries of the estate is Ballylinch Stud, where the McCalmont family bred many world famous racing horses including The Tetrarch, once known as "the fastest horse in the history of the turf". The breeding tradition continues today, and hotel guests are invited to enjoy a personal tour of the stud during their stay.
Most of all, visitors to Mount Juliet come to unwind, relax and enjoy outstanding service and superb accommodation. The hotel is a beautiful Georgian mansion in a picture postcard setting on the River Nore, which has been completely refurbished to provide 32 bedrooms. The Clubhouse, just a short walk from the main house, was created from the original hunting stables and has 16 rooms.
The estate is also home to Ireland's leading championship parkland golf course. This Jack Nicklaus designed 18-hole par 72 course hosted the 2002 World Golf Championships.
Sport is everywhere at Mount Juliet and if not playing golf or riding you may choose from fishing for Atlantic salmon and trout, archery, clay pigeon shooting, croquet, snooker, tennis or cycling. After a day of sport relax in the Spa with a full range of traditional and alternative treatments as well as a swimming pool, steam room and gymnasium. This holiday is perfect for non-riding partners.
