Our rides at Horizon are some of our most popular. The horses and riding are great, the climate is good all year round and you will receive a welcome and hospitality second to none.

Horizon Horseback Adventures is based at Triple B ranch, a large working cattle and game farm in the Waterberg. At Horizon you have a variety of riding options. The area lends itself to superb riding, the going is easy and though in places the bush is thick, much of the country is open and flat.
There are many opportunities for excellent riding across the huge Triple B ranch and its neighbouring reserves. As a working cattle property, the ranch also provides riders with the opportunity to actively work with cattle. Polocrosse is very popular at Horizon. An amalgam of Polo and Lacrosse, this sport provides all levels of riders with loads of fun and is highly addictive.

There are some 60 horses - Anglo-Arabs, Thoroughbreds and Boerperds, a hardy South African breed. All are well cared for and schooled under the leadership of Shane Dowinton who has been using round pen and natural horsemanship techniques for many years. At Horizon the daily activities are organised to suit everyone. Rides are taken out in small groups so that experienced riders can enjoy stimulating and faster paced rides, whilst novice riders are brought on at a pace comfortable to them.

The accommodation comprises a lovely old colonial farmhouse with three en suite rooms as well as three thatched en suite rondavels within the grounds. Horizon is situated at about 1500m above sea level giving it wonderful year round temperatures. It lies within the Waterberg which is considered a non malarial area.
While riding at Horizon you may see some of the plains game living on the ranch including hippo, jackal, hartebeest, impala, kuda, zebra and baboon. But to see wildlife in more numbers then you may wish to join a two night safari riding from Horizon or to add a Dinaka safari to your South African holiday.

LINDANI SAFARI
Ride from Horizon on a three day/two night safari in the Lindani game reserve. You stay at a thatched bush lodge and explore the reserve on horseback. Here you have the opportunity to see a variety of game including rhino, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, kudu, eland, blesbuck, buffalo, warthog and many smaller species of antelope. The itinerary is quite flexible with a morning ride each day, followed in the afternoon by a choice of another short ride, a vehicle game
drive, guided bush walk or visit to the
rhino orphanage.

This safari is suitable for novice to experienced riders and the riding is tailored
to the ability of the riding group. If staying
a week at Horizon the trail can be booked
on arrival but for shorter stays it must be arranged in advance (the safari is an additional cost). The trail is not offered
over weekends.
